The name Connect has become synonymous with the thriving UK techno scene and is quickly becoming part of Scotland’s techno culture.
Connect was founded in 2017 by DJ and event organiser Mark Leslie, who has had previous success with hard dance night Dimension, before being joined by fellow business partner Paul McVey. They have both now taken the reigns of this new brand and rapidly establishing a foothold within the techno scene. With Mark having previous experience with putting on events, this is evident from the professional and well organised team behind Mark and Paul. As well as organising their events, Mark is also resident DJ for Connect under his MARC alias, and in a very short space of time he has started to grow a small army of Scottish techno fans who also double up as fans of Connect.
The event supports a mix of techno, tech house and house. They already have an impressive list of artists booked including: Marco Bailey, Gary Beck, Hans Bouffmhyre, Fatima Hajji, Ben Sims, Jay Lumen, Jasper James, Matt Sassari to name a few. To date their events have been held at the fantastic Ironworks music venue in Inverness and Elgin Town Hall. The Connect techno family already hold the event in high regard, with many giving it the accolade of ‘One of the North of Scotland’s premium techno brands’.
Part of Connects success can be attributed to the growing Connect Podcast. This monthly 2 hour show has been gaining support among the techno community for some time and continues to grow their tribe of fans, many eager to experience their event for the first time.
Connect also has its own online presence of dance music fans, already joined up to their ‘WeConnect Community’. Here Connect fans and other music lovers can discuss electronic dance music and it’s respective scene’s and keep up to date with the latest news and events.
The future of Connect is going to be very exciting as they are soon to launch their very own techno music label ‘Connect Music’, looking to push the harder and deeper side of techno. The first release is already lined up with more in the pipeline.
